Best Golf Ball For Mid To Low Handicapper

golf related golf tips

Mid to low handicappers tend to have moments of brilliance on the golf course and other times where they struggle to break 90. The great thing about being a mid to low handicapper is that you start to develop a good amount of consistency in the shots that you hit.

This is where it starts to matter what clubs you are using and the golf ball that you play with. That’s why the best golf ball for a mid to low handicapper is the Titleist Pro V1.

Titleist Pro V1

The Titleist Pro V1 is a golf ball that has been around for many years, but it gets updates and improvements from time to time. The ball is known as the number one golf ball in the game, and when you play with it, it's easy to see why.

Titleist golf balls are long distance, have consistent ball flight, low long game spin, and a penetrating trajectory. With a Titleist Pro V1, you can get the ball to stop on the green quickly, no matter where you are hitting from.

In addition, the distance technology from Titleist is some of the best in the game, making this a really smart choice for those that want to hit the ball a long way. I love the feel of a Titleist Pro V1 and can tell you that there will likely not be a golf ball manufacturer that can replicate this. But that's just my personal opinion.

Once you see the benefit of this golf ball, it's truly difficult to go back to anything else. For very high swing speed mid to low handicap golfers, the Titleist Pro V1x can also be a good solution.

Pros

  • Durable outer cover with a soft feel
  • Impressive short game control
  • Penetrating ball flight
  • Impressive distance

Cons

  • Not the cheapest golf ball on the market

Other Alternatives:

Callaway Chrome Tour

Callaway Chrome Tour is also a great golf ball that can help you play good. It produces high spin rates so it helps you with your short game, but on the other hand it still provides a lot of distance and moderate spin rates with longer clubs. For me personally the best feature of this golf ball is alignment-enhancing Triple Track Technology because I like to putt with help of the alignment lines.

TaylorMade TP5

TP5 from TaylorMade is according to many golfers the best golf ball on the market. They say it has the ultimate combination of speed and greenside performance because of its 5-layers and an advanced technology. I think it's worth giving it a chance.

Bridgestone Tour B X

Bridgestone Tour B X is one of the most trending golf balls in the last few years. The ball was developed with the assistance of Tiger Woods and Jason Day. Bridgestone's website states:"The TOUR B X delivers increased ball speed for MAXIMUM DISTANCE off the tee and HIT & SIT performance on approach shots".

But be aware that the Bridgestone Tour B X golf balls are produces for players with driver swing speed of 105 mph or more. If your swing speed is below that, rather choose the Tour B RX that's developed for low handicapped golfers with an average swing speed.

Which Ball To Choose?

If you're a middle to low handicapper, you certainly need a good golf ball to play well. Don't buy golf balls for high handicappers, or golf balls that promises longer distance. You need a soft golf ball that's reliable and has a high spin for approach shots and short game. This way you will easily master your short game and improve your game even more.

Since there are so many golf balls on the market from different manufacturers, I would advise you to buy a 3-pack of golf balls we mentioned in this article and try them out. They are all great balls, so it all comes down to the feel. Find your favorite and stick to it. Don't change the balls during the season or during the round because every golf ball behaves a little different.
